The Museum of the African Diaspora plans to host Nexus: SF/Bay Area Black Art Week from Sept. 30-Oct. 4, featuring new collaborations connecting local artists and institutions to communities beyond the region.
Nexus: SF/Bay Area Black Art Week 2026 will launch with a trio of exhibitions at the Museum of the African Diaspora led by “Dewey Crumpler: Sonic Lineages,” the first institutional solo presentation in the city for the former San Francisco Art Institute associate professor. Most notably, Nexus will unite Los Angeles and Bay Area artists through the four-day exhibition “Art eXodus: From North to South, The Coast.” Presented by Los Angeles gallerist Jac Forbes, the show opens Oct. 1 at Four One Nine in San Francisco.
“For MoAD to properly serve its mission, I knew that we had to build a better bridge between communities,” Monetta White, the museum’s executive director, told the Chronicle.
