Born and raised in Queens, Dr. John Ellis journeyed to Chicago to attend medical school and has been there for the most part ever since. Growing up in New York with parents who were enthusiastic about the arts, he was exposed to multiple forms of the arts and spent more time in performing arts growing up than anything else. His dad painted and wrote plays; his mother had great design sense.
