Within the imagery of Welch's body of work, we see images of pop icons, 90's clip art, the American Flag, and tie-dye collaged with found objects such as brooms, stools, and shoes. These images spark nostalgia and reference familiar characters and ideas. Pop Icons like Richard Pryor, Lenny Kravitz, and Justin Bieber are seen crossing generational references. What appears to be a peace sign could actually be the logo for Mercedes Benz as a symbol for wealth and status. Objects such as the keyboard in Black Metal show the history of the object prior to Welch finding it. We see sticky notes on the keys, labeling the notes for someone who was learning the instrument. In Comic Relief there is a white fence possibly hinting to the "American Dream".
