THE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW at Pier 94 (through April 8).
Over 100 fine art photography galleries from across the country and more than 10 countries will display images that span the medium’s history, as well as video and new media pieces. Organized by the Association of International Photography Art Dealers, the event promises to appeal to photography enthusiasts of all stripes. Art history buffs may want to check out the vanguard abstract work from Alfred Stieglitz’s “Equivalents” series at Scheinbaum & Russek Ltd. The boldly colorful images of Ethiopian artist Aida Muluneh, shown by Jenkins Johnson Gallery, might satisfy those looking for more contemporary pieces. And Elton John, a noted photography aficionado, has organized an exhibition of thought-provoking photographs selected from Aipad members called “A Time for Reflection.”(Peter Libbey)
